Located in the very heart of London, Grand Buildings stands in the south-east corner of Trafalgar Square. When Land Securities plc came to redevelop the site they were concerned to replace the old building with a new one of the highest quality.

Following an open international architectural competition which attracted some 278 entries, the winning design was prepared by Sidell Gibson and Associates.

I was invited to submit my design proposals for the carved areas of the building. Following this I was commissioned to carve a doorway, standing over 6 meters (20ft) in height, on the Northumberland Avenue elevation, and a total of 27 over life size portrait heads on the Strand elevation.
